Defence R Us

A new year and the chance to play bridge with some real people for a change. The club had actually been open between Xmas and Hogmanay but it would be the first time back for us since LotG went to Malaysia in late November. I like BBO, and a number said that they enjoyed the tournaments I ran, but nothing like the real thing.

So at the end of the evening LotG was complaining that she only played four hands all evening. Despite only playing two myself I kept a respectful silence, but it did mean that our winning score of 66% was hard-earned. We were only two matchpoints ahead of Diana and Ros but they were sitting the other way most of the time and were more in control of their destiny, a chance they clearly took.

Looking through the hands again we did nothing spectacular. Just took the tricks that were available and put the opponents under pressure in the auction.

Next week we team up with Diana and Ros again in the next round of the teams championships, where we have some ground to make up.
