Anyhow, like the other favourites in the event we did not show up in the second half and a loss to Reg and Diana in the penultimate round killed our lingering hopes of a victory. Reg and Diana went up to table 1 needing a 13-7 VP win, but were blitzed by the easy winners - Julia, Claire, Dee and Eric. A terrific result especially for Julia and Claire, who are less experienced than many but keener than most. A photo of the winners is currently on the district web site.
Other recent performances of note saw Jenny qualify for the Women's National Pairs final (playing with Merchiston's Christine). Jenny and Nigel failed to place in the National Pairs final but (edit) their Winter 4s team mate Adrian won the Mens Pairs - a really excellent result for a young man who is in Scotland for his gap year from university in Poland.
I'll be playing with Jenny in a couple of weeks in the Farquharson Trophy (a name that always reminds me of Steve Martin's Dr. Hfuhruhurr in The Man with Two Brains) but first it is the Spring Foursomes down south.
