Longniddry are in Division 4 so get a hefty handicap (although no-one seemed to know the precise amount, perhaps +3,600) but we had major inroads in this during the first 12 boards and then scored heavily in the second half.
It did seem that David and I were playing a different set of boards to the other three tables. We were +2,340 at the half, which was 1,500 better than our other N/S pair and more than 2,000 better than the Longniddry N/S pairs.
It was even more extreme in the second half, where our table score was a low scoring 1100-860. However the other N/S pairs were -3,000 (or worse) and so we finished with a score that was at least 5,000 points better than any other table.
Of course our opponents did not have their best evening, missing a couple of makeable slams and bidding one off two aces. But I think the main reason for our success was that we were merciless in punishing any declarer play errors, however small,
